"I remember how the Ring looked from deep space, like a thread of blue Christmas ribbon..."       Louis Wu (Ringworld Engineers by Larry Niven)

NEWSFLASH

23/6/04 - The Fourth novel in the Ringworld series has now reached the shops.  Go here to find out more.undefined

20/3/04 - I will be running a RWRPG game at the Chaosium inspired convention Continuum.  This scenario is based on the City in the Jungle material that was originally destined for the RWRPG Scenario book which never saw print in 1985.  It would be good to see you if you drop in.  Go to the Continuum website to see registration details on residential and non-residential passes to the convention.  However sign up for the game is on first come first served basis but if the game take up of the game is popular then we may draft in further Games Masters to help with the need.

I will also be running a few games set in the 3rd Man-Kzin War for 2 to 4 players where each player will have a platoon of either UN Marines or Kzin Heroes.  I have a simple combat system and will be using 15mm figures.

This site is dedicated to the roleplaying game inspired by Larry Niven's Ringworld and Known Space series.  The game was created by John Hewitt, Lynn Willis and Sherman Khan (and others of Chaosium).  Chaosium published the game in 1984 and a Companion was also published for it in the same year.  The RPG was a set of 4 books - The Explorer book, The Technology book, The Creature book and the Gamesmaster book all published in a boxed set with the cover art by Ralph McQuarrie (who did most of the preproduction art for the first three Star Wars film, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi).  It is a truely glorious game and it's sadly been out of print for nearly 20 years.  Hopefully it's availability will now change. A review of the game can be found at the Known Space website.

There is also A Ringworld Study Guide available on the same website.  Quite a number of Larry's books and short stories are now available as ebooks.

I'm David Gordon, the webmaster for this site.  I intend to publish gaming material that has not seen the light of day (with the intention of one day providing a second companion to this great game), and to provide a forum for all fans of the Ringworld role playing game, and to collect a register of RWRPG gamers and Games Masters around the world (please see the Guest Book for more details).  When I first envisaged setting up this website I decided to contact John Hewitt, but I soon found out from Lynn Willis of Chaosium, the devastating news that John had passed away in late 1999.  There is a moving tribute to John, who penned a lot of the brilliant essays in the RPG.  The John Hewitt Memorial was created by Jane Houston, President of the AANC.

This website still in it's early days (I started it back in January 2003).  I chose the colour scheme and design to reflect those chosen by Chaosium for their original Ringworld RPG game books which were all in this deep blue colour. As time passes I will start to populate each web page so pop back to check on the site. However, your help is needed.  I will do the utmost to provide gaming material to help provide a renaissance for the Ringworld RPG and for you to continue to enjoy RPGing both on Ringworld and in Larry Nivens Known Space. If you have any Ringworld RPG material that you would like to have published here please send them to us (you will be fully credited). To contact me, David, or send submissions, email me at david.e.gordon@gmail.com  Feel free to subscribe to the Ringworld RPG yahoo group I've set up by sending  mail to (or clicking on) RingworldRPG-subscribe@yahoogroups.co.uk or go to the RingworldRPG Yahoo Group homepage and subscribe from there.

The 3 Ringworld Novels published by Larry so far are (in order) Ringworld, Ringworld Engineers and Ringworld Throne.  Ringworld Children is out now (June 2004).

Ringworld, Ringworld Engineers and Ringworld Throne are all ©Copyright of Larry Niven.  The Ringworld Role Playing Game and Ringworld Companion are Copyright of ©Chaosium and John Hewitt.  All material reproduced here is at the permission of Larry Niven and Chaosium and is not intended to infringe their intellectual rights.
